13 is a musical with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and a book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn. It was the first Broadway show to feature an entirely teenage cast and band.
Following a move from New York City to small-town Indiana, young Evan Goldman grapples with his parents’ divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school.
Please contact Kimberley Shaw to arrange an audition time. Auditions will be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!!!
Please prepare an audition song – preferably from contemporary music theatre (or Disney) that is age appropriate. We would prefer that you do not sing songs from 13. Please prepare a backing cd that does not have support vocals. (You can also use an iPhone or iPod for your backing or bring your own accompanist). We will not supply an accompanist
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled audition, to allow for completion of forms.
Please bring a single page biography (cv) including a photograph and a cd backing for your song (or backing on iPhone or iPod). Wear clothes in which you can dance.
The audition will follow the following format.
The audition will begin with a group session, which will include some dancing, and brief interviews.
This will be followed by individual (private) singing auditions. (Remember to bring backing tracks.)
Finally auditionees will be given a short monologue based on the play, which they will be asked to read. Auditionees will be given time to prepare, but will not be expected to memorise this piece.
