Blak Yak One Acts
12 Jul, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
About the Show:
Blak Yak are mounting their own one act season this year (heh, we said mounting) and we would love for as many people as possible (old yakkers and new yakkers alike) to be a part of it. We have two plays to audition and both promise to be loads of fun.
Move It – written by John Grimshaw and directed by Graeme Johnson
Noah – 20/25 NZ born (kiwi accent) emerging playwright
Blake – 45/55 NZ born (kiwi accent) first time actor, mate of Noah
Flynn – 20/25 NZ born (kiwi accent) another “newbie” actor keen to go at it again.
Never Ever – written and directed by Melissa Merchant
Michelle – the party hostess, she likes to collect people and enjoys the company of others. She is the mother hen of the gathering, a nurturing type of person.
Lucy – Michelle’s oldest friend, she likes to drink and have sex (not always in that order). Lucy likes to joke around, but she is hiding a deep sadness from those closest to her.
Susan – worked with Michelle until recently, she is a little ditsy but is also a whole lot of fun. Susan, however, has a secret past that she doesn’t want anyone (not even her husband) to know about.
Tina – went to university with Michelle and they have stayed friends, long past graduation. Tina is pissed off, she’s had a recent family tragedy and it’s possible her fiancé is having an affair – to make matters worse, it’s with someone who is at the gathering.
Kasey – dated Tina’s brother for a while and just kind of hung around. She is young and sexy and knows just how to play a room.
Ellen – has recently started working with Michelle and is still fairly new to this group of friends. She is a little uptight to begin with, but wait until she’s had a few Margaret River Merlots!
No preparation necessary.
Please contact Melissa for all show and audition details.
We have a season booked at Rigby’s Bar and Grill September 12th and 13th and are also intending to enter the three drama festivals (Bunbury and Hills are September 18th, 19th and 20th and Dramafest is September 25th, 26th and 27th). Please note that Blak Yak is a non-profit organisation and these are not paid roles.
Audition Time: Move It – 10 to 12, Never Ever 1 to 3 and 3 to 5 (if needed)
