Pardon Me, Prime Minister
3 Dec, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
About the Show
On the eve of a kill-joy budget that will usher in punitive taxes to curb pleasure providers and seekers, into the fusty study of the asinine PM waltzes a young woman who claims to be (apart from a bombshell), his daughter. This vivacious by-product of a party conference fling won’t leave 10 Downing St until the dour chancellor backs down-and she gets most of her kit off in protest, before being bundled into the next room. Cue an epidemic of door-slamming confusion involving, also, the PM’s wife, the interloper’s Mum, a high-powered female journalist and a suddenly lusty know-it-all aide called Miss Frobisher, who advances on the PM’s male secretary. After numerous hectic developments, a happy ending appears to be in sight – climaxed by a final even less expected family bomshell!
The Rt Hon. George Venables MP – 50’s, stern, strong & impressive but inwardly vulnerable
Rodney Campbell – early 30’s, good looking, elegant and smooth
The Rt Hon. Hector Crammond MP – 50’s Chancellor, sturdy, no-nonsense Scotsman, harsh exterior conceals a heart of stone, might have a spark of humanity deeply buried
Miss Frobisher – mid to late 20’s, severe and a conservative dresser has a crush on Campbell
Sybil Venables – 50’s, sweet and rather vague, wife of George, gracious jolly and a keen supporter of things bright and beautiful
Shirley Springer – early 20’s attractive blonde, scatty but not dumb, cheerful, direct and an oddly naive manner
Jane Rotherbrook – 20’s journalist, attractive brunette, cool and sophisticated and very much at ease
Dora Springer – late 40’s, Shirley’s mother, shrewd, bright extrovert in manner
A man – any age.
