The Pirates of Penzance

Traditionally set in 19th century but has been set in the 1950’s with Bikies as Pirates. Social commentary on Piracy in all its forms and at all levels of Society. Typical Gilbert and Sullivan humour which is as relevant today as it was when first performed.

You should prepare one (or two if you are after a principal role) songs in English, not necessarily from Pirates of Penzance. We will provide an accompanist. The vocal range should be appropriate to the role (if any) in which you are interested or for chorus.
Some dance or movement may be asked of you so please wear comfortable or appropriate footwear
The Pirate King (comic bass-baritone)
Samuel, his Lieutenant (baritone)
Frederic, a Pirate apprentice (tenor)
Major General Stanley (comic baritone)
Sergeant of Police (bass)
Mabel – General Stanley’s youngest daughter (Soprano)
Kate, Edith and Isabel – Mabel’s sisters: soprano and contralto/mezzo
Ruth – A Piratical maid of all work (Mature Contralto)
Plus a chorus of daughters, pirates and policemen
