The Revenger’s Tragedy
20 May, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Set in a Renaissance Italian court society of decadent Dukes, exultant revengers, and homicidal sibling malcontents, with its themes of lust, vengeance, disguise, and double and triple-crosses aplenty, Thomas Middleton’s The Revenger’s Tragedy, written and first performed around 1607, not only offers a parody of the revenge tragedy genre but also an entertaining exploration of the lengths to which some may go to attain an often extreme ‘justice’. Directed by Steve Chinna, UWA English and Cultural Studies students perform this fast-paced and often grotesquely hilarious play of intrigue, counter-intrigue, and murder at 8pm over four nights in the Dolphin Theatre from May 20 to 23. $25 full; $18 concession. Tickets available at the door or on ticketsWA.com.
