Viva La Restoration

2 Nov, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

About the Show:

With music by WAAPA based composer, Jackson Griggs, book and lyrics by Thomas Owen and Cal Silberstein, this surreal Australian musical follows the story of two artists in a literally black and white world, who seek to restore colour which long ago disappeared. Overtly light-hearted, with an occasional dark side, the musical explores themes of ambition, inspiration, power and the influence of charismatic individuals in society.

Available Roles:

GWEN ARCHER – mezzo sop. with belt
Gwen is an ambitious young artist with a lot to learn. She is obnoxious yet still infectious.

MAYOR VERA DONAHUE – soprano
Vera is an anxious and conscientious politician. Her age has left her both weary and wary.

LUCY MORGAN – mezzo sop. with belt
Lucy is a kind, young art enthusiast. Seeking purpose in a world she doesn’t understand.

ANNA MEELER – alto
Anna is a young woman who is struggling to assert herself in a life-dominating relationship.

ELIAS KANE – tenor
Elias an artist and a revolutionary. He is charismatic, arrogant and a little strange.

PROFESSOR WILLIAM PERKINS – baritone
William is an eccentric, old scientist. He is gentle, but offbeat and somewhat reckless.

OFFICER JOHN AMBROSE – bass
Ambrose is the Council’s head of security. He’s a stoic and imposing man of principle.

THE COUNCILLORS
The Councillors are easily distracted, officious, pathetic and hopelessly bureaucratic buffoons.

CITIZENS
The citizens are complacent but on the verge of discovering dangerous new passion through art.
