You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown
18 Jul, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
About the show:
The time of the action is “an average day in the life of Charlie Brown.” It really is just that, a day made up of little moments picked from all the days of Charlie Brown, from Valentine’s Day to the baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day, from bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening.
The director is looking for talented and experienced youthful looking young adults aged between the ages of 16-30 to play the following “6 year old” cast:
(None of the cast is actually six years old. And they don’t really look like Charles Schulz’ “Peanuts” cartoon characters.)
Charlie Brown (M) Baritone: Optimistic, yet tries too hard and often ends up feeling sorry for himself. Audition song: The Kite
Lucy Van Pelt (F) Mezzo-Soprano: Bossy, overbearing, overly honest and is in love with Schroeder. Audition song: Schroeder
Sally Brown (F) Soprano: Charlie Brown’s little sister, doesn’t like school, innocent and adorable, intelligent and knows what she wants. Audition song: My New Philosophy
Linus Van Pelt (M) Baritone: Lucy’s little brother, the one who keeps the peace among everyone – LOVES his blanket! Audition song: My Blanket & Me
Schroeder (M) Tenor: A sensitive, quiet musician who idolizes Beethoven and is reluctantly Lucy’s boyfriend. Audition song: Beethoven Day
Snoopy (M/F) Tenor: Charlie Brown’s faithful canine friend. Audition song: Suppertime
All actors require strong singing and acting skills- can get away with basic movement/dance skills (if they are willing to work) Auditionees will sing a song from the show, learn some choreography and may be required to read from the script (please prepare a childlike voice with an American accent for the character you are auditioning for- see YouTube for examples of Peanuts characters).
